Patient FAQ

We accept many insurances, but not all plans. We invite you to call our office to schedule an appointment and one of our insurance coordinators will work to verify your benefits prior to your visit.

Same day appointments are available. If you have a location or physician preference, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. If your needs are emergent, please call our office for immediate attention.

Collectively, our physicians at Retina Consultants of Texas have more than 300 years of experience treating diseases and surgery of the retina, vitreous, and macula. Our surgeons are board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and have studied at some of the most prestigious institutions in the nation. Learn more about this great group of doctors.

The majority of our physicians speak more than one language and are comfortable treating patients in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Gujarati, French and Kirundi.

At your new patient appointment, we will ask about your general and eye health, test your vision and measure the pressure in your eyes. Our team will also dilate your pupils prior to your eye exam with one of our retina specialists. Depending on your eye condition, additional testing may be required. We look forward to seeing you at your appointment.

Please bring a Photo ID and Insurance Card(s) to your appointment, along with a list of all health conditions and allergies, a list of all medications and supplements and a list of questions or concerns about your eyes. Patients who are visiting one of our offices should plan on spending up to three hours with our care team. Learn more about what to expect at your upcoming appointment.

We accept cash, all major credit cards and Care Credit on charges over $200.

As the largest retina-only ophthalmology practice in Texas, RCTX currently operates 23 locations across the Greater Houston and San Antonio areas. Learn more about our Texas retina centers.

“Retina Consultants of Texas has done a great job keeping my sight 20/20. After two detached retinas I still have excellent vision thanks to the technology they use and their excellent doctors and technicians. Appointments are always on schedule and they have a great process.”
