Dr. Rishabh Date is a board-certified medical and surgical retina specialist providing comprehensive retinal care in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and completed his education and advanced training at several of the nation’s leading academic medical centers. Prior to joining Retina Consultants of Texas, Dr. Date practiced in New Jersey for several years, caring for a diverse patient population across a wide range of retinal conditions.

Dr. Date earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he served as a Clinical Instructor and was awarded the J. Donald M. Gass Fellowship Award. After five years in private practice in New Jersey, Dr. Date returned to Houston to join Retina Consultants of Texas.Skills and Specialties
Dr. Date specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal vascular disorders, and complications related to cataract surgery. He utilizes advanced diagnostic imaging and modern vitreoretinal surgical techniques to deliver precise, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs.Dr. Date has a strong interest in clinical research, with a focus on diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vitreoretinal surgery techniques. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and has presented at national ophthalmology meetings.
