Overview
Dr. Sean M. Rodriguez is a board-certified retina surgeon and native Texan practicing in the San Antonio area. Raised in Corpus Christi, he then attended Amherst College, where he was captain of the men’s tennis team and part of the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship team. After graduation, he returned to Texas to spend his gap year serving in under-resourced schools in San Antonio.

Dr. Rodriguez specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and retinal detachments. He is committed to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care while remaining actively engaged in advancing retinal research with clinical trials.
Education and Training
Dr. Rodriguez earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa (#3 Ranked Nationally on Doximity) and his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado, one the nation’s most robust surgical programs. During his training, he was awarded the prestigious Heed Fellowship and won multiple grants for his work in medical education and charitable care.
