Overview
Dr. David Mora-Boellstorff is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized training in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases. Born in Bryan, Texas, he developed a love for the natural sciences and the outdoors through his parents, who taught at Texas A&M University. While earning his degree in biomedical engineering, he gained an appreciation for the intersection of technology and medicine. During medical school, he realized that the precision optics used in ophthalmology reminded him of his childhood observing birds and wildlife through binoculars.
Dr. Mora believes that exceptional care combines technical excellence with clear communication and individualized treatment. He is committed to helping patients understand their diagnosis and feel confident in their treatment decisions.
He is excited and grateful to return to the Brazos Valley and provide care for the community that helped shape who he is today. Outside of medicine, he enjoys watching sports, birdwatching, hiking, scrambling, skiing, chess, and cooking.

Education and Training
Dr. Mora earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin before earning his medical degree at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
He completed a transitional year internship in Spokane, Washington, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. After residency, he served on the clinical faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he focused on ocular trauma and multidisciplinary inpatient ophthalmic care. During his time on the faculty, he enjoyed teaching residents and was honored with the Clinical Preceptor of the Year Award by the second-year ophthalmology residents in recognition of his commitment to resident education.
Dr. Mora then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and the University of Cincinnati.
