Overview
Dr. Ryan Yanagihara recently completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington. At this busy program focused at Harborview Medical Center, a level one trauma center with a wide catchment area involving the vast WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) region, he developed a profound interest in diseases of the retina, the various applications of optical coherence tomography in triaging ophthalmic emergencies, and imaging of the retina. With this, he decided to pursue a career in Medical Retina and is grateful for the opportunity to train with world-class leaders at Retina Consultants of Texas and their patients.
As an undergraduate, he worked as a research technician at Retina Consultants of Hawaii where he was involved in clinical trials. He also spent time with the computational ophthalmology laboratory at the University of Washington. To date, he has co-authored 26 peer-reviewed publications.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Yanagihara enjoys hiking, photography, eating new foods, exploring museums, drinking caffeine, and running.
