Dr. Calvin Mein Retires After Decades With RCTX
Dr. Calvin Mein, one of our exceptional retina specialists, is retiring on September 30, 2025, after a distinguished career spanning five decades of medical practice and 34 years of private clinical practice in San Antonio. A highly accomplished eye-care professional, Dr. Mein provided cutting-edge, state-of-the-art retina care to the people of San Antonio and surrounding areas, while also teaching as a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
The physician partners of Retina Consultants of Texas will continue providing world-class retinal care to Dr. Mein's patients. We understand that changing physicians can be challenging, but we'll do everything we can to make the transition as smooth as possible. Dr. Mein is incredibly honored to have served the people of San Antonio for so many years, and we're thankful for all the work and dedication he put into making Retina Consultants of Texas one of the world’s largest and most highly respected retina groups.
